me old digital camera has finally packed up and looking at getting a new one
not looking at spending a fortune £150 possibly up to £200
i have no idea about cameras so point and shoot would be good
so what cameras do you lot use and wheres the best place to buy them

Don't know much about them either but I really like my Lumix/Panasonic.
Do you want it to slip in a pocket? Do you want it to survive getting wet, dropped, crashed on? Do you want a bloody great big zoom? Do you want it to take HD video? Will you just view images on a screen or print them? How big do you want to print? Do you want to use it in crappy light (like pubs and clubs)?
Not that I'll have any suggestions even if you answer the questions, but but it might help you figure out what to look for.
I have a Fuji S1000fd.
Seems to do okay for me.
Lots of automatic settings for sport, beach, night etc and you've got the option for manual setting too. It's a bit bulky, but still miles smaller than a DSLR which will be my next purchase after I've outgrown this camera.
I'm after a new camera too so:-

Yes

Yes

Not a massive one
Will you just view images on a screen or print them?
Screen view only
Do you want to use it in crappy light (like pubs and clubs)?
No, generally outdoors only.
Got a little Olympus mju 3 megapixels at present. Could do with something better. Suggestions?
