[Closed] Which 170mm chainset for an AM bike?

Always gone with SLX in recent years, but wondering if there are any other decent options? Perhaps a little lighter.

Probably going to move to 2x10 gearing, but I'm not convinced by these double chainsets with no bashguard that a lot of manufacturers are speccing - I use my bashguard a lot and I'm sure I'd damage the chainring.

So is the best solution to get a 3x10 chainset and stick a bash on?

Anyone know how the finish on the new Shimano black XT cranks holds up?

XT black holds up brilliantly for about a week, less if you ride the bike.

If you've managed to scuff the SLX's up with sole rub then forget the XT's in black as they will look shitte in a few rides. Try RaceFace Deus XC as they're quite stiff even for AM duties. I have some Turbines and they're superb.

Helitape on the arms whatever you get, if you're a crank-polishing gibbon-like-pedaller.

No, they've been very hard-wearing.

if you're a crank-polishing gibbon-like-pedaller.

Must put my hand up to that though.
