Wheels... What's good these days?

After some new wheels to replace the RaceFace ARC 30/ Deore hubs that came on my Orbea Rise. Nothing really wrong with them except they're heavy (2.3kg) and the freehub is a bit slow to engage for my liking. I'm hoping to get down to ~1800g with a 30mm internal rim for £500 or there abouts. Requirements are, 29" boost. Ideally £500 or less (ok, 600?). General trail riding/ xc (Surrey Hills, Peak District) usually longer distance 30+ miles. Rarely go to trail centres,few times a year maybe. Not into park type riding. Would prefer Centrelock to avoid buying new discs and need a microspline freehub. DT swiss are looking good with XM 481s on either 350s (£450ish) 240s (£550ish) from fitwheels.eu or some of the other Euro builders. Plus say, £60 for a 54t ratchet and then the obvious import duty/ vat lottery so could end up being a lot more expensive. I've seen some Mavic Crossmax XLS on CRC which tick all the boxes but the thought of 24 spokes makes me twitch a bit. Anyone have experience or opinions on these? Apparently ATSM cat 4 (whatever that means) which covers Enduro and Trail riding so should in theory be perfect. But really? 24 spokes? 360* hubs but maybe only 24 POE with the option to upgrade to 40. And yeah, 24 spokes? Hunt Trail wide are hard to ignore at a ridiculous sub £300. I know they get a bit of a bashing online for being soft but I've been running them on my hardtail for a couple of years and not had any issues despite my enthusiastic but unrefined style (27.5 so can't swap them across). Am I really going to benefit for spending (nearly) double on something else? Any advice would be greatly received.

Good point about the freehub. Could be that adding weight or maybe centrelock?

Were yours 6 bolt? Any idea what your front weighed?

V2 I think and 6 bolt and xd.

Confirmed weight 1017g rear and 817g front, total 1834g that’s incl tape and valves.

Perhaps then it's centrelock hubs that have more heft. My front weighted in at 908g.
