I have some old Mavic Cross Ride disc hubs, 135mm spacing and 24 hole (straight pull).
Thinking of using these to build winter road wheels to use in the CX bike, also 135mm spacing.
Any reason this won't work, are 24 holes adequate for a road disc brake set up?
No reason they won't work at all.
What rims you gonna use? Think Stans Iron Cross and H plus and Son come in 24h drillings.
Good luck finding straight pull spokes of the right length to fit the Mavic hubs though! You may find it cheaper and easier just to buy some new hubs and start over again...
If 24 spokes were deemed strong enough for MTB use by one if the biggest wheel manufacturers in the world, I'm sure they'll cope with your intended use. 🙂
Haven't decided on rims yet, winter wheels so any reasonably light clincher. Halo Aerorage can be had for £30 each, about 450g.
If it turns into pain finding spokes I'll probably get something built up on some Novatec's or something.
I just happen to have these in the garage and thought they could be put to good use.
Cheers 🙂
I had thought that PP, just haven't seen any 24 hole discs for road so thought I may be missing something!
