[#12947322]

got a new utility bike with a rear rack (& front basket! 😃) Want a smart-ish trunk bag that can be attached/removed from the rack very easily, for shopping & whatnot.

Like the look of this one, looks OK & has shoulder strap which is handy. https://www.santafixie.co.uk/ortlieb-trunk-bag-rc-12l-rack-pannier-bag-black.html

Anything else I should be looking at? Not TopPeak, their bags just look too special 😂

I love my topeak, the quicktrack makes it really easy to mount / remove. That Ortlieb does look good if it's compatible with your rack, you should check spacing and whatnot. Not sure I could go back to one that needs to be attached using velcro etc any more

I've had the Topeak, used it for my daily commute lasted less than a year, very disappointed with it. It's too easy to attach it without it being securely locked on due to the poor design of the attachment system. Added to which the zip gave up the ghost.

I've currently got the Ortlieb, had it for six months. It's a far better thought out piece of kit. Usual Ortlieb build quality, and when it's attached it stays in place. However it's very easy to remove from the rack if you're bothered by scrotes walking off with it whilst you leave the bike locked up.

yeah, it does look adjustable from a pic of underneath, I'll see if I can dl the instructions & check though!

’ve currently got the Ortlieb,
the same one as I linked? I like the fact it's quick to remove though - looks like the same mechanism as their panniers which I've got already, tbf if I'm leaving the bike anywhere I'd always take the bag (usually seen sporting a man-bag these days anyway 😂)

I have the earlier version of the Ortlieb. There's a plastic base which attaches to your rack and then the bag clicks into that. I've only used it for two trips. If you're interested, we could negotiate a price?
