I've got a birthday coming up soon and will be getting some cash, I fancy a Edge 810 or a Go Pro 3 black.
Basically I'm a gadget addict, I've got an aging Garmin vista C and use that on most rides and like the extra features the Edge has.
But, I'm also a photo nut and like the idea of using the go pro for cycling as well as filming the kids doing kid things especially swimming etc.
So which should I get and why?
Go pro silver and a garmin 510
Compromise and get a Hero 3 Silver and an Edge 500?
After all, the Black edition gives you wireless remote and a slightly higher definition, and a gadget freak like you should have a smartphone you can put the GoPro wireless app onto.

only problem with that is I may end up with two items that I wish were a bit better, rather than one, top of range product?

The hero 3 silver is still bloody good. I can't imagine you'd be upset you didn't get the black edition. In fact the go pro 2 is also a great piece of kit for the gadget nut.
