Boring question I know, but I need a new track pump to replace the park tool home mechanic one that is a bit rubbish and the head has now broken.

I was looking at one of the new Lezyne pumps, or an SKS, anyone have any recommendations for about £50?

I've used an SKS for the last 20yrs, the renncompressor. Great for getting tubs up to 16bar but takes time on high volume tyres. I use a Joe Blow for MTB tyres.

There's a review in this month's MBR, I was just thinking "how boring, surely nobody can be interested in that" but I must have been wrong 🙂

For your edification. Lenzyne Steel Floor Drive summary: Needs more strokes than all other pumps. Stable. Gague reeds 37.5 at 35psi.

SKS RENNKOMPRESSOR: Hard to read gague (goes up to 240psi) Very heavy. Lots of strokes needed.

They rated the Specialized AIR TOOL COMP (who's thinking these names up??) and said it met all your track pump requirements!

I can't believe I've typed all that...

I bought a Blackburn Air Tower 4 (for £35, not the £78 it retails for now!) based on lifetime warranty. I'm currently waiting to find out if the warranty performs better than the pump!

The angled gauge points at your crotch, not your eyes, when you are pumping. The hose clip doesn't work and there is nothing to keep the handle 'closed' in transit. It did blow a good volume of air until it started leaking from the barrel/shaft seal!

SKS, it may be heavy but you never know when you might need a cosh.
