[#8451662]

Got a light wear patch on my SIDs from doing a 20 day bikepacking tour on them with some interesting weather conditions. Serviced them but still want to prevent it getting any worse as need the forks to survive this summer in the alps!

Know it's not a long term solution but don't want to buy new forks at the moment so was wondering what brand of nail varnish is the hardest or best for repairs?

Black would be ideal which limits brands but clear might be OK if it's significantly tougher.

Can you not just use a 2k epoxy

Not sure that would be hard enough and just wear through pretty quickly. Used nail varnish in the past on a set of Fox forks but was wondering if anyone had found one brand better than another.

I thought nail varnish was to fill in scratches, can you repair wear patches with it?

So wear and not a scratch? If wear, what caused it...assuming dirt behind the seal? How did the bushings look when you serviced them?

Personally I dont see what a lay of nail varnish is going to achieve to wear aside from possibly looking more aesthetically pleasing (although I doubt it would last)...theres no compressed air behind the seal that would leak as a result of the wear and a lay of varnish isn't going to reduce any stiction that may be caused by the wear; I'd just run them with more regular service intervals.

as others, I wouldn't use it to cover wear, scratches yes.
