Brant says it's a no no - but why? He hasn't responded to my idle musing so thought i would ask you lot? Surely it is strong enough??

What's the tyre clearance like? My old one struggled with 32 conti twisters

The only issue I can see is tyre size.

I cx'd on a Pompetamine, 32mm tyres, worked well.

32 conti cyclocross race tyres fit no probs - even with guards

Change of tune then as it used to sold as a do anything bike.
Tyre width may be an issue but race tyres are narrow anyway. tough as old boots. Mine had stacks of abuse.

Cuz no-one would buy the XLS?

Probably just fine, but doubt it would be anyones first choice if buying a CX bike. Which tells you something.*

*I have no idea what that something is.

POSTED 1 HOUR AGO # REPORT-POST

I've seen bikes with better clearance.

As I just said on Twitter...

"@robmjackson 415mm chainstays for a fun road feel. Fill your boots. Do what you want, but it ain't a Cx bike."
