[#7689886]

So my Bontrager that came with my 2014 Remedy have finally given up. Well worn down.

What are people recommending these days?

I've had superstar before but didn't like them, can't really explain why.

I've quite small hands so not too thick but not too thin so they're uncomfy.

I run carbon bars so they do soften the buzz.

I'm tempted by some ODI rogues or Renthal Kevlars.

Hope ones super grippy and comfy. Also nice and thin.

OH had ergon GE1, he says they are soft but he's unsure on the shape.

I like the Superstar Components Grinder lock ons.

Only downside is they look, and sound like they could be a sex toy.

ODI rogues are pretty substantial grips so probably wouldn't suit if you have small hands. The ODI ruffian are really good, as are the lizard skins peaty grip, my wife who has little hands has got them on all her bikes

I'm loving the ODI Gwin grips.
The smaller lock on ring on the inside and lack of ring on the outside seems like the way to go.

I would go for some odi ruffian or yeti if you want something softer. I love hope stuff but the grips are pretty rubbish. Hard, thin and not worth the money. When the odi grips have worn out you can buy new grips and re use the lockons.

Bit like the Gwin but without the annoying hand rub on the locking rings. 🙂

The ODI Gwin signature grip are pretty thin and they'll certainly be my next grip purchase.

I can't say I have had any rub from the the normal lock ons but I have been using them for so long I'm well used to them. I have one set that are ovalised where my hands used to overhang the ends before someone invented wide bars.
Plus I don't really like Aaron Gwin.

DMR Deathgrip.

Bit like a ruffian, with some extra grip round the finger area, and a waffle bit for the thumbs. They feel really nice.

I'm a big fan of the newer style grips without a lockring on the outside, as I run my hands off the end of the bars, means no more bruised palms 🙂

As mentioned above, Rogues are pretty big, I like em but I think they're not for you.

Rogue are bit but I really like them as I have had problems so can't grip small diameters. The also let you wear thin gloves which I prefer to smaller grips and padded gloves which disconnect you a bit. They feel weird if you don't wear gloves though as the gaps are quite big.

I'm not a fan either. I didn't try the grips because of the name.

I thought that too until I tried the "god" grips. 😆

I respect what he does and what he has achieved I just think he seems like a knob with zero personality. I don't think anyone else has a chance when he is on form. But back on topic I will definitely have a look at his grips next time I need some.

Hmmmmm but now I need to decide what colour AG1 to go for. Sad eh!

The black and grey I'm not keen on and everything else will look crazy with the mountain mint frame.

Sometimes I can't quite believe what I type on here ha!

I put some Ritchey foam lock on grips on my bike. I will be putting them on
whenever I have to replace grips from now on.

Ritchey foamies but surely the hard loc on inner cancels the soft feel out ?

Chromag squarewave or squarewave XL if you have big hands (and can find them). Really comfy with the bulge in the middle and look good too IMO

I had Raceface Half Nelson grips fitted to my DH bike when I bought it. I like them so much that all my bikes have them now.

Raceface Nelson here too, the Dirt magazine review was positive stating that the rubber compound works even in cold wet UK conditions, as a bonus they only lock on at the inner fixing meaning no finger or hand rub on the (non existent) outer lock ring which is something I've had with other brands.
Reasonably priced, cheaper than Renthals...as above, all my bikes wear them now.

The best I've found for me and my hands are Lizardskin Logos. Tried ODI Troy Lee (too skinny), Superstar Excel (too hard), ODI SDG (slighty too skinny but close - they just squish down a bit too much). I'm always hunting for a mid thickness grip in a reasonably soft compound. Might try the new ODI Elite next as they come in three thicknesses.

How thick are the Renthal lock-ons?

Troy Lee's are good if you like loads of grip. Did find they dug in s little bit on the outer lock ring.
Currently on Half Nelson's and they are better imo. Slim, grip well but only have the one locking collar.

Think I'm going to try some Half Nelson grips.

Got to restrain from a turquoise overkill ha

I bought the Imprint Grips from TMR when they started on Kickstarter. They shipped over in Aug/Sept 2014 and I'm still using the same grips. Talk about a product with longevity. I've reset them once since receiving them.

Had lots of different ODI Lock-on grips over the years, and have settled with the Cross Trainer which feels just right to my hands

The RF Half nelsons appealed to me with no lockring on the outside, but they were crap, the outer edge tore off in a couple of weeks.

The Santa Cruz Palmdale are a much better grip, only reason I didn't get on with them is they are a bit thin for my hands.

Like the half nelsons, and have the Aaron Gwin ones also ad liek those too - I reckon the ne ODI Elite Flow are the ideal middle ground.

New DMR Deathgrips feel lovely so far. Will see how long the waffle area last but they are on £12 odd on offer so don't mind them wearing a bit quick.

They were on offer at Evans, cheapest I can see now seems to be CRC @ £13.50.

Fancied a longer grip than the usual Odi Ruffian or Yeti that have become my default choice, so have ordered some 143mm ( Odi made ) Sensus grips to try out.

Hmmmmm the ODI Elite series look interesting. Might give the pro a go.

Really tempted by the Half Nelsons but not if the end rips!

Like these too.

I'm currently running Easton grips on both bikes which come in two thicknesses. I really rate them, probably higher than the RF grips they replaced.
