Steel preferably, will take a few knocks as i'm a little bit chubby, a general all round bike witha slant on fun rather than all out XC

Dialled Prince Albert or similar. Rock Lobsters are great bikes but i found mine quite XC orientated.

I recently built up an on-one summer season - XT groupset and some old rev forks. I've been really impressed - climbs well and is a blast going down. Initially was going to use it in the winter and the 575 in the summer but it's been the bike I've been opting when riding.

I'm of rotund construction & found the Pace 303 bloody good fun.
If your not fussed on new kit you might pick one of those up for £200 or so now. Add some Marz' All-Mountains & Pro2 wheelset for another £350 or so & you'll have the beginnings of a decent ride.

ive just finished this a mix of secondhand parts and new frame and and a few other bits. cost me about 700 without the drivetrain or brakes as i had them but it leaves 300 to buy second hand bits so plenty really
