Some of the Shimano xt brakes I've seen online have 'trail' in the title. Are they all in fact 'trail' or is this a different brake to standard and, if so, what's different? And are they any good? Ta.

Trail ones have the fins on the pads for enhanced cooling, do they not?

I thought all the XT's were the same.
XTR have trail and race.
Trail having an extra adjuster to race.
The fined pads will fit in any of the new range.

Think the trail version has a 3 finger lever.Marketed as BL-T785, I presume the T stands for Trail.

Oh oh there's these

but madison only list them as levers...not as a brakeset. You could buy them and calipers I spose.

Could it stand for "touring"?
I thought they marketed some XT stuff as touring?

Cheers for this. Not sure why Shimano don't make things clearer. I like the idea of a longer lever, I must say.

I'd prefer a more bent one, my only issue with mine is I like the lever really close to the bar, but they seem to get squidyier the further you wind them in (presumably something in the cam mechanism?). Not noticeable on the trail but i can grab the lever and pull to the bar without locking up on the road 9if i only use one brake and lean righ over the back tyre) maybe I'm imagining it, they're great otherwise and the power makes up for it on the trail.
