I have just got a pr of Roval C38 c/l disc wheels. My plan is to fit 28mm tl road tyres for when im using my gravel bike on big road rides.
I currently have Ultegra discs with aluminium core in 160mm size.
Should i just get the same for these wheels, or is there anything better or better value?

It has shed some light for me. There is some criticism of icetech on the bearbones forum, with stories of melting the aluminium core and other braking problems.
It was mentioned that the SRAM discs were better as the braling portion was made of one material, not a laminate.
However now i dont know.
I didn't like the IceTech ones at all, they warped all the time and made a hell of a noise. I use Sram centreline CLX ones now and they're silent.
YoHandsome started a similar thread on the same basis as Blazin-saddles, piqued my interest as I refuse to go back to discs until someone solves the noise problem, and there's some chat that the centreline CLX ones are quieter.
My XT ones are much the same though e.g. steel rotor, aluminium carrier, don't think they're Icetech, so not sure if the Centreline rotor really offers much different.
Edit: actually it's pretty much just Blazing Saddles on that thread too, feedback loop!

That I couldn't answer, but the CR Line's made mine work.
The Ultegras on my bike sound appalling in the wet, though no rubbing or warping issues so far. Would be keen to know if SRAM rotors are quieter when they get wet because the Shimano ones are frankly embarrassing.
Just checked, apparently XT rotors are IceTech, but also there is a greater distance between the carrier and the centreline of the braking surface compared to the SRAM rotors, which makes me think there might be more opportunity for flex and resonance.
Plus for 99% of my riding I think I would prefer it if the rotors stayed hot and dried off quicker rather than cooling down quicker!
Does anyone know the best place to buy some of the SRAM centreline discs. I seem to need £100+ for a pair....argh
Never noticed ice tech rotrs making much noise on my mountain bike? I run SRAM rotrs in the same brakes in winter to save wear but dont notice much difference apppart from a slight change in feel as the ice tech ones stay consistent on longer descents.
Melty rotors is a thing for some people, but I wouldnt take the bearbones forum as being representative, a loaded bike is not conducive to flying downhills off the brakes. A double whammy of extra load on the brakes and being forced to drag them because the bikes weighed down and not particulalry capable.
My cross bike came with sram brakes and tektro rotors.
The noise on road disc brakes is to remind you not to brake unless you really really need to.
I went up and down Ventoux 3 times in one day using those ice tech discs, and I weigh shit loads.
No squeel, no warping, in fact the stopping power of the shimano set up was pretty awesome.
52mph max with heavy breaking before bends. I’m actually getting a semi on just thinking about it.
