Northern Spain, any of Basque, Cantabria or Asturias - surfing and mountain biking heaven. Failing that Yorkshire (where I do live) where we also have plenty of surf and biking, albeit not quite up to the Pyrenees or Picos de Europa.

IHN - why on earth would you want to live in Cheshire?

'Cos it's where I grew up and I like it. Simples.

I love where I live (South Glamorgan), but Northumberland runs a close second in my romantic imagination.

Derbyshire if it wasn't for all the tourists as soon as the sun comes out 🙁
So more likely Powys. Some stunning scenery, great riding & not many people-just don't tell everyone.

Looking to move to West Yorkshire, South Yorkshire or Derbyshire in the next year or so should probably say one of those.

Failing that, it would be Cumbria, Gwynedd or the Highlands.

slainte 🙂 rob

Darn Sarf... Kent, Surrey, Hampshire. South Downs nearby, France on the doorstep in one direction and London in the other. Oh yeah, and its a shedload warmer than up here. Im a lifelong Yorkshireman, and frankly im sick of sh1t, cold weather. I know its overcrowded and silly expensive down there, but the fact the sun shines for a lot more days of the year would make a happy bunny indeed.

North Devon or Pembrokeshire if there were any decent manufacturing jobs and suitable SEN schools provision.

I'll make do with Herefordshire for the time being then.

Can't see me leaving dear owd Lancs but if I did it'd be either Northumbria or Cumbria, I reckon.

another +1 for Cheshire. Ideally, East Cheshire as you're tucked under the hills for great White Peak riding, half an hour's drive (or a mighty fine ride) from the Dark Peak, an hour to Llandegla and Cannock and Lee Quarry if you like that sort of thing. More importantly, the riding from the door, be it on or off road is superb. Plus a decent quality of life, minimal numbers of tourists to clog things up, easy access to cities, airports, rail and motorway network, we love it here - wouldn't change it for the world. Well - except maybe Mallorca 🙂

As an adult I have lived in Cheshire, South Yorkshire, Moray, Tyne and Wear, Warwickshire, Derbyshire, and Shropshire.

The best by far, and only place I have felt that I could settle in(and probably will do) is Shropshire.

My favorite county to visit is Wester Ross. My least favoutite, (one of my offices is there) Hertfordshire.

Live in Peebleshire which I love. If I was to move elsewhere I would probably go for Perthshire.

Surrey, where I've lived for most of the last 25 years. Born in London raised in Hampshire and Australia have lived in Bristol, Oxford plus stints in US and Asia - I'd place Surrey above all of those. Surrey gets a lots of stick but it's natural beauty combined with its proximity to London to Heathrow/Gatwick and the South Coast makes it a great place to live.

Love Shropshire too, but which part are you fond of? It's a large and varied county (the biggest inland, in fact) by your username, I'm going to guess... Wenlock?

What about all the Southerners?

They've already replied, saying they want to move to Yorkshire etc.

Realistically for jobs and stuff, I'd quite like to stay where I am in West Yorkshire right on the edge of the Pennines. Has it all.

If I didn't have to worry about working, probably somewhere in Devon with riding on the doorstep and a short drive to the beach.

Bucks ,

Lived in herts or bucks all my life, have been to some amazing places but my heart always pines when I drive through wendover, Halton and Aston Clinton , the biking is not bad either with Aston, wendover and Woburn ( technically in beds I think) .

Coast would be nice but not green and woody

I might have been tempted to say Worcestershire, were it not that the local planners appear to be in the process of totally ignoring most of their own guidelines when drawing up the new development plan (they and the developers appear to think there aren't any issues with making our close into a through road).

Though getting away from my current source of anger, it would have to be Cumbria given how many of my mates have moved there, and how they all seem to be having fun up there.

Lived in Yorkshire, Devon, Cornwall, Shropshire and Derbyshire, after tonight's ride round the Dark Peak from my back door and seeing absolutely no one, I'm happy right here thanks. Would love the sea nearby, bit of global warming and who knows?

Currently live in Cheshire, which is ok, if flat..
Grew up just North of York which was fantastic, but of all the places in the UK I've lived, I'd go back to living in Northumberland.

Beautiful place.

Lancashire.
Just moved back from 20 years exile in Yorkshire & even though it's just up the road, people are noticeably friendlier.

Cumbria......which is why I live there! Fantastic place 90% of the time, marred only by loads of rain and loads of tourists.
