[#1469739]

I've been using a Hardtail for a 4 or 14 mile commute, depending upon the weather. Fancy something a bit lighter and made for the job, together with getting in the odd longer fitness road ride and potentially training for LEJOG for 2011 😯

Boardman Hybrid Comp
GT Zum 2
Norco VFR 4 Disc

Out of those the Boardman seems the best, is there anything else upto £500? (secondhand also considered) I like the idea of discs but should I be looking at Road bikes also?

The two aren't mutually exclusive....

Have you seen Mark Beaumont's bike?
I doubt you'd spend much time in the drops so with some bar ends or something what's the problem?

GF is considering a Boardman Comp.

Does anyone know how big tyres it can take with mudguards?

Marin do a cross bike with discs, could vary tyres depending on use. There's one on the wheelbase site.

Two actually. Lombard at £750 or Toscana at £999 - the latter has carbon forks, better brakes etc.
