Didnt really want to run my road tyres on the turbo as the last HIT intervals felt like they might melt the tyre.. should i get really cheap road tyre or turbo specific tyre?

Turbo tyres work for me. Get a cheap spare wheel to mount it on and you're good to go.

Turbo specific tyre for me as well - cheap road tyre will start to shed bits with the generated heat! I just use an old wheel which has worn rims since you aren't going to be doing any braking, add a cheap cassette and it's ready.

Ive already got a spare wheelset but they have my off road tyres on at the minute.. I guess turbo tyres are all pretty much the same..

You can get a turbo tyre from halfords for a tenner.

Get a red one then you won't forget not to take it on the road 🙄

I've been running Lithion 2's for two years / 12000km outside and on the turbo, no issues. And at £11 each, its cost me a grand total of £11 a year with no faff changing wheels.

I run a Contintental Hometrainer rear tyre (700cx23c). Done 200 miles on it so far and it still looks brand new.
