Hope V-Twin.

Running Ultegra STI with bar-top levers as well (set up for the Three Peaks where bar top levers are a godsend - for normal CX I wouldn't bother with them).

The only way it'll work is to run cable STI, through the bar top levers and into the under-stem reservoir then hydraulic to the caliper. Pain to set up, the amount of friction in the system with the extra levers is considerable and it needs top end cables to make it work well.

They are however brilliant brakes, super powerful.

How much can you get 105 hydro levers for?

2 bikes, a Trek CX with disks and a Kinesis Crosslight set up as a "tough" road bike. Both run Tiagra STIs

TRP Spyres on the Trek, which replaced BB5s. TBH the BB5s when properly set up were FAR better than the Spyres. This bike has cross top levers which may account for some of the general crappness

On the Kinesis , canti's using replaceable v-brake style pads. much better braking performance than the disk brakes TBH, at the expense of wearing through rims

Will 105 levers work with, say, SLX calipers or is that just pointless?

BB7 MTN with Dia Compe RB something or other.

I have been investigating TRP spyres etc, but may well just rebuild the BB7s with some new grease and copperslip.

Levers:
tiagra 4500 9 speed RH/tiagra R400 LH
BB5 calipers...

Cheap, effective... But I still want hydraulic brakes on it though TBH...

BB7 Roads with Ultegra 6700 STIs. They're pretty much spot on.

New Tiagra 10 speed hydraulic brakes released mid July? Will be going on my Fargo with an XT 9 speed rear mech.

I have RS 685 on road bike and BB7 on Fargo at present, and the hydraulic brakes are a world apart and don't need the constant fettling i find BB7's do.

what are the options for non-shifting, drop bar, hydraulic brake levers?

The sram rival is 1x so that's 1 non shifting. Wonder if you could use 2 left levers or just remove the shift lever from the right one.

You only seem able to buy the complete brake for most of these? Not just levers?

Yeah, but I guess you'd need it all anyway if you only have mechanical at the mo, as per Stoner's bike (which is very nice!)...

Anyone using drop bar brake levers and trigger shifters on the flat part? Thinking of going drop bar (poss. woodchipper) on my tourer and want to avoid the expense of STIs + changing mechs. and brakes (BB7 front, V rear) to play nice. (Yes, I know bar end shifters is the obvious answer, but don't really like the idea.)

I wouldn't like to use trigger shifters like that but some Paul's components thumbshifters would be pretty cool actually.

Well, if you had the appropriate calipers you could just change levers. I'd need a seal change to allow my Hopes to run with mineral oil if I could get Shimano levers.

They will and it is.

685 callipers are basically the same as XT. I'm using R785 levers with XTR M9020 callipers.

I've got the Ultegra 11sp levers & calipers.
Feel really good to me but had 2 issues with them already:
- Rear piston leaked & was replaced under warranty (but took 2 weeks)
- Baggy hoods which move about far too much (known issue that I think has now been rectified with newer hoods).

Only if your frame is flat mount... Or you change the calipers
