We're off to the dales MTB centre tomorrow for the weekend. I have new forks on the Pitch and feel I should try them, and only mud tyres on the Inbred
So,
Pitch, 33.5lb, big rubber, new Lyriks, double and bash
Inbred, 28lb, but only Bonty Mud Xs or summer Kenda SB8s available
Go on, which one?
Hmmmmmm.... Same problem here. Orange 5 or Soul with flat pedals......
It has to be said I'm erring towards the Inbred, if only because I know it'll fit on the rack with 2 other bikes. The Pitch is a bit, err, wide....
Right, decision made. I'm taking the Soul. (Bound to be the wrong choice!)
Depends what you are planning to ride up there in Swaledale.
There are lots of steep tecnical climbs, and some fast gnarly decents.
Depends what riding you're planning on doing
Also we were up there last weekend, and there was still a lot of snow about on the southern hills (the moon/lead mines), but i imagine the northern hills should be clear by now with the weather we have had.
I have no idea what we will be riding. I'm meeting a mate who knows his way round.....
If you hadn't turned your Pitch into a slack jawed lard butted bounce fest it would have been ideal.
The thing is, will you wish you'd have brought the Pitch if you bring the Inbred? Or the other way round? Bear in mind me and Al will be slow so it won't matter about speed uphill.
Grow a pair!!!! ๐
Me and Al are going to Stainburn on the way up. Skills brush up I think. Tee hee!!
Pitch - I'd be gagging to try the new forks, especially expensive ones.
Rob's right. I could cane his ass on a tricycle uphill......... ๐
To ba fair I could do with seeing how the Pitch rides now. It's not been out since mid-October. I'll see if it fits on the rack ๐
I am sorta wishing I'd not sold the standard wheels now though. The new ones I've built are, errrrr, weighty shall we say?
If you take the Pitch I'm gonna have to take the 5.....
Hi
Myself and a couple of others on here ride this area alot and both bikes would be good but obviously different.
I would say if you haven't ridden there (much?) before and are unlikely to get back soon then take the Pitch.
Hopefully your mate will be showing you some of the cracking descents in the area and if I was only doing them once i would prefer to do them on a full susser.
Either way though you cant go wrong-we will be up there Sunday morning so might bump into you.
Cheers
Steve
Still plenty of snow around yesterday but it is patchy and there is usually a way round it - have a good weekend. 8)

You're coming to see us - Ace! bring either bike, I ride Cotic Soul most of the time as do a few of us here, also ride Trek 5" suspension occasionally. Put the Mud-x on your On-one We'll keep you right where to ride as Deejay's photo's show there's still snow on the tops but it is going(a tad slow for our liking!) There is still plenty of riding to go at keeping off the very tops.
Deejay - Good photos particularly like the snow slope, good to see you guys coming out of your Swaledale hibernation.
Fatgit - Top of Pinseat and Gunnerside Gill still snow bound, Harkerside Apedale circut is fine only a few snowy sections, Top of Fremington edge down to hurst still has quite a bit of snow. It's clearing though.
ALL - We've had a cancellation this weekend so we've 6 beds available. Drop us a line on 01748 884908 to claim them - Forecast looks good
Enjoy whatever you do, where ever you do it!
