Morning all

Looking for route ideas

When the weather is nicer , looking at a 4/5 day riding trip in the Camper.

Fancy going to Wales as havnt been riding there for a couple of years and I like it - and cant be arsed with fighting with traffic, so would rather just bumble up the west coast, stopping off and going for a ride.

Starting from the south coast (as thats where I live) and looking for a nice mix of trailcentres and getting out in the hills on a decent loo...and even a day at an uplift track - anything MTB really 🙂

Not fussed with Afan as done it to death

The obvious ones - in some sort of S-N order are:

Cwmcarn (maybe)
Brechfa
Nant Y Arian
Machlynneth
Coedy / Snowdonia in general
Llandegla

Obviously not going to do all of those in 4/5 days - anyone got any thoughts / ideas / good route suggestions.

Cheers all

Tim

I'd spend at least a day in the Elan valley area.

Some fantastic riding.

+1 Elan Valley. Got almost identical photos to singlespeedstu, it really is an amazing route. That lairy rutty singletrack down to the reservoir takes some beating 🙂

That looks brilliant.

Been route planning - Quite fancy staying around the Brecons and could easily take in Elan Valley from there.

Cheers guys

If you're staying near Brecon I'd also try the black mountains.

Be sure to take in the Rhiw Trumau descent there.

i wouldn't bother with cwmcarn its just a horrible climb followed by a boring featureless descent, the breacon gap loop is excellent fun though if your staying in that area.

Wow, Elan Valley looks great. Never got further north than the Doethie last year but it's definitely on my list this year. I wouldn't miss out on Afan or Brechfa. I also vote to skip Cwmcarn. Don't know whether it's because I'm spoilt for choice living between the Beacons/Afan/Brechfa but Cwmcarn seems overrated.

If in the Beacons look to do the Black Mountains killer loop, The Gap, and there is also a good ride around Llangorse lake called Mynydd How You Go (google for route map).

Ringo.

I'll have a look.
Not sure what i've got.
I could always knock one up for you though.
Either that or the more fun option of showing you round. 8)

I'd be more than happy to take you round the gap route and natural stuff around cwmcarn though not as fit as I used to be so it would be a steady pace, email in profile if you want to get in touch.
