Having looked after my Endura event jacket for the 6 or 7 years I have had it, it has finally given up on me, was cleaned and reproofed last week but tonight I was wetter than an otters pocket. So give me some recommendations for a replacement, needs to be generous cut as I am no racing snake and fully waterproof in the worst of weathers.

Just replaced my endura Venturi with a berghaus Vapour storm seriously impressed, most breathable waterproof shell I've owned, not cheap but they can be found in sales.

Gaynors were doing lightweight Gore-tex Berghaus jackets for £70 the other day. Probably better than 99% of bike-specific stuff at double the price.

I'm looking at several RAB pertex sheild+ jackets which are cheep at go outdoors and a RAB event jacket. Go out doors are discounting the Montane atomic jacket to £60 on either the 1 April or the 15th, can't remember ( Mrs 5 binned the details), which is also a pertex sheild jacket. I can't decide what to go for, as I have heard that pertex shield is not very breathable. But all the retailers, manufactures etc describe it as very breathable. Event is a bit heavier and not as durable apparently, but reports of breathability are good. I was going to get a berghaus vapor storm in the sale but spent to long thinking about it and they were gone. As usual. What's peoples experience ok pertex sheild+ (2.5). I want a fully waterproof lightweight shell which can come out the bag when needed, walking or riding. Sorry OP if I have hijacked your post a bit.

There's a difference between Pertex Shield+ and straight Pertex Shield (without the +) the first is decent enough, the second is not.

I'm after a new one too. I've been meaning to get for a week or so and still haven't got round to it, I reckon I'm in for a drenching on my ride home today.

I've heard the Endura Emergency shell is supposed to be good? anyone have one of these. The black one looks alright but the orange one looks like a sainsburys carrier bag.

I have discounted the montane off the list because it's not "+" spec. I'm also considering holding out for a vapour storm in the sale
