I dont enjoy shoulder straps so looking to upgrade from a single bottle waist pack to something with 1.5L or 2L water. I literally cannot fit a second bottle on the frame of my stage evo.
Camelbak Repack LR 4, Dakine hotlaps 5L are Osprey Seral are on the list.

I get by well with a Bontrager Rapid but keep looking at the Evoc Hip Pack Pro (with a rain cover).
A few years ago I tried a Camelbak Palos 4 LR with a 1.5l bladder. I gave up after a couple of rides because with the bladder full it moved around too much and wouldn't stay in place.
I went back to using a Dakine Hotlaps with a 750ml bottle and a 750ml bottle on the frame and make sure I'm hydrated before I ride, although during the winter I can manage with one bottle for most rides.

i have an evoc. not sure of the model but it does have a 1.5 litre bladder and is very stable and comfortable to wear. there are also pockets at each end of the pack to carry additional bottles and a pair of bungees for carrying a jacket if it’s too big to fit inside.
Osprey Savu 5 - you can carry two 750ml bottles comfortably, all your essentials inc. a packable jacket. I've used all year round, cinched up it super comfortable and there's no movement, it's so good you barely notice it! I used a Dakine MTB back pack for many years with a hydration pack, but always carried too much crap and it gave me killer lower back pain. The Osprey hip pack stopped all of that.
The Evoc Pro one looks good. I nearly went for that but went for an Osprey Seral because it's bigger. I can fit a full hydration bladder, snacks, phone, some tools and a jacket in there if packed well. Sometimes swap the jacket for an insulated gilet. Also have hip pockets that are big enough for gilet and arm warmers
Camelbak Repack is good- don't go for an old one, though, as the straps would slip. I had one, and it was ok, but would end up moving about on longer rides. I replaced it when the newer version came out and it was much better.
Where do folk wear their waist packs?
I can have mine with the belt round my true waist, and the pack sits above my love handles.
OR I can wear it lower with the belt where my trouser belt would go.
Higher is more stable, lower is more comfy
Check out the Dakine Seeker as well… a little bigger then the hot laps but I find it comfier. 2l bladder size and loads of room on top of that.
Sounds like lots of good options. I I have the bontrager rapid but one bottle isn’t enough considering I space on the frame.
2l sounds too big with the hot laps but I guess I don’t always need it full.
1.5 litres is just two small bottles but if I could have a bottle pocket as well that would be perfect.
