[Closed] Wahoo Tickr straps

[#11865035]

My Wahoo Tickr strap has failed - one of the studs that connects the strap to the heart rate monitor has corroded and snapped after not a huge amount of use (in my view anyway - it was a £40 unit).

Replacement straps are out of stock at Wahoo, and to be honest I don't feel inclined to hand them anymore cash and have the same thing happen further down the line.

Are there straps from any other manufacturers that work or can someone recommend a more robust HRM (I only need one that streams to my bike computer, not one that stores data locally)?

Can't you just get a new 3rd party strap . I use generic 3 quid eBay straps with my Garmin until the head unit clip gave up after 12 years service.

The spendy bit is the bit you clip on.

It would be great if I could, that's what I'm trying to find out - I don't know if they are a generic piece of kit that would be compatible across a range of manufacturers.

I'll have a look on Ebay.

--- Edit ---

Looking hopeful, thanks 👍

If you send wahoo customer service a moany email they will send you out a new one. They are rubbish though so just keep it as a back up and get a Garmin pro

Yup I gave up on them for this very reason. Sh*t design for a "premium" product. The replacement will also fail and the replacement after that. So just skip straight to getting a cheaper one from Decathlon with a hook and loop strap and do away with it altogether.

Mine broke the same a few weeks ago , so ordered a replacement from AliExpress , only a few quid and works a treat , just make sure the studs are 45mm apart 🙂

I bought a replacement generic from Amazon. It's been working fine for months. This one. Seems like it's out of stock now though.

I stuck the stud back in with epoxy resin and it’s been ok since. Not a good design though.

Jeepers, what are you doing with them? Mine is over 3 years old, used at least 4 times a week and pretty much looks like new!

Those ebay straps are used on my Coolpoo (or whatever it's called!) cheapo HR monitor.

It's actually really comfy as it's very minimalistic.

I take the HR unit off after every Zwift session as otherwise the units connectors oxidise up from the sweat. I use a bit of silicone spray on them too, to keep the sweat off.

So yeah, those straps are fine.👍

The Tickr straps are split and do up at the front like a (confusing) front loader bra. The generic straps aren't split there. Do the Tickr HRM pods clip in OK to these?

+1 on contact Wahoo support, they are excellent IME.

My year old Tickr is doing OK, gets used twice a week, and I'm a sweaty bugger. Seems their kit can be a bit hit and miss.
