Bought mine new, and used it for three local rides this past week. Today, the fully charged battery was down to 48% after a 4.5 hour ride.
Extrapolating, that’s a runtime of about 9 hours per charge, a far cry from the ‘up to 25 hours’ Wahoo claim it to have*. I had the backlight switched off (making the screen hard to read in today’s sunshine, so a bit pointless), the touchscreen enabled, and volume down low. The only device it was paired with was my phone. I interacted with the screen all of ten times during my ride. (It tried to reroute me a couple of times - I’ve yet to work out how to disable that function.)
Essentially I barely used it as a GPS navigation device (which is what I bought it for), and it chomped through a chunk of battery.
Am I missing something here?
* “Battery life can vary depending on usage, such as backlight brightness, settings, and the number of connected sensors.”
For the last few 5 hour rides mine went to about 80%. Mostly map screen with GPS route. Lots of sensors. Screen on auto max. Phone connected.
If I was you I would start a support request with wahoo. You'll have to go though the idiot questions first, but in my experience they are responsive and get there in the end.
Ah cheers Llama. I was expecting your kind of runtime for not far off 400 spondoolies. So I’ll get on to them.
My phone definitely depletes faster when the Elemnt app is synced to the wahoo and I presume the wahoo will also deplete faster. You don’t need the app connected unless you want livetrack and/or notifications enabled on that specific ride so I don’t normally have it on.
Battery life does seem a bit on the short side though for a new unit.
