I'm thinking about doing a working holiday with the national trust, probably in Cumbria, and would be interested to know if anyone has done any thing similar? Did you find it worth while, enjoyable, would you do it again etc? or any experiences doing voluntary work abroad for longer periods?

I've done all sorts of volunteer work with wildlife organizations. Although nothing of the working holiday sort.

I'd like to do something like this for the RSPB.

Do it.
Volunteer work is great and you're bound to love it.

Hi John,

I am a volunteer with the VSO in Ethiopia- I'm working in the IT department of a teacher training college in Hawassa, in the South of the country. I'm 6 months into a two year placement, and though its a hard country to live in sometimes, its incredibly rewarding.

Without a doubt, the best thing I have ever done...

If you want any further information, drop me a line.

Must go, there is a monkey trying to steal some cables!

I've got a VSO assessment day on the 30th - do you mind if I drop you an email and ask a couple of questions?
