After two punctures on one easy ride today, thinking of going tubeless for my hardtail alu race bike. Was planning on some new wheels later this year, but can't afford those at the moment.
If I get a 2.1" Racing Ralph UST now (and run it with a tube), will the extra thickness help cut down on punctures? Will then use the same tyre with a new tubeless wheelset later. I'm not sure that I can be bothered with the hassle and expense of converting my existing DT Swiss 420SL to tubeless.
Comments appreciated!
Get the UST tyre and run it tubeless, best option ime.
i'm running a ron and a ralph [ust] on non tubeless rims with "no flats" tubes and, fingers crossed, no punctures yet in a couple of weeks of use.
Don't bother with the UST tyre, just run your existing ones tubeless. I've run mine like that for over a year with no problems.
Hmm, mix of reactions there. What would I need if I was to convert my 420SL to
I guess I'll get a Racing Ralph UST, some stans sealant, but what is the deal with rim strips at tyre valves?
