Anyone know if the aluminium version is any good?

I found the clamps really difficult to alter when getting the position correct, I had to take the whole thing apart and guess again rather than make small adjustments. Once set up correctly it has worked perfectly well.

Hmm...yea, it's the clamp that I wondered about - seem to remember reading somewhere about sumo type clamps slipping when using USE's recommended torque settings.

(want to buy British if poss., but not if the clamp is unreliable)

I've got a Ti one - as above they're a bit of a pig to adjust, but once its right (and unless it's a new build you can measure your old setup) they stay pretty solidly put.

I managed to crack the bond between head and post on mine - USE did a pretty efficient turn around on it (4 days IIRC) and I've had no problems since.

Ive got/had a carbon SUMO. Sadly the head wouldnt stay put and often slipped if i hit a bump when sat down, ending with me cracking the rail support by over tightening the bolt (was still slipping at this point tho!).

Ive still got the post (just the repalceable rail support cup that is broken) and i would get another one to try it again, but since you can only buy it as part of a whole kit for £20 that might not be any time soon.

Rich.

Thanks for the feedback - pretty much reflects my previous experience with an alien clamp USE post. On balance, I think I'll go for the safe option (Thomson). Bit of a shame Hope don't do a decent alternative to Thomson, oh well.

They are much easier to adjust than Alien posts, but not as simple to adjust as something like a Syncros 2 bolt post.
