I've got a ragley mmbop with marzochi bomber z1 sport forks, and a token tempa-x reducer headset!!
Bike mechanic gave it back saying he could hear a faint knocking, and wondered if the bushings in the forks could do with replacing... the noise became more noticable shortly after its first ride... and it sounds like its coming from the headset
Me and my workmate who maintains all the bikes at the outdoor centre we work at are able to get it all seeming good and quiet, but it only takes a few harsh bounces on the forks before the knocking returns
I'm stuck an have a 12 hour race on saturday, and no money!!! :-S Any suggestions?????
take the top cap off the top of the stem and check there is a tleast a 3mm gap between the top of the stem and the steerer tube. If there is not enough gap add a 5mm spacer to the under side of the stem and tighten the top cap again this is usually a common cause of a knock in the headset.
