So i stripped the bike down about 6 months ago for a bit of an overhaul and trying to remove the drive side lover pivot was an epic. It is designed to be extremely tight which makes it interesting to remove.
A rubber mallet seemed the best option at the time. now i have some play in the rear and i am going to replace all the bushings and again i have to remove the lower pivot.
Any suggestions on the best way to avoid damaging anything. Or just mallet it till it decides to come out??
Bumpity bump........
Have you tried the turner forum on mtbr? A most excellent source of advice and frequented by Mr Turner himself. Alternatively email turner support via their website. I had a response on another matter fron Dave Turner quicker than on any of the forums.
Yea razorrazoo, had a gander on there with no joy which probably means its not a problem generally. Mallet time ๐
Hi mate.
Have you got the dw linkage plates off then?
If you can try inserting an Allen key into the shaft and try and turn it and pull at the same time. This was suggested to me by Greg at Turner.
Failing that put a suitable drift on the end and lightly tap it out.
I've got an issue with mine in that my shafts are stuck solid to the linkage plates and I haven't got a clue how to get them off?
No i havent done it yet, i had it off a few months ago to give everything a clean and it was a bit of an epic but afte a bit of searching i might have found an answer. After you remove the two bolts and linkage from the non drove side take the bolts to a hardware store and get 2 longer ones with the same thread. Insert these into the linkage and tap out the drive side. This way nothing is getting broken.
Hopefully.
I doubt yours cannot be remove, they are just really tight. Perseverance and patience and a mallet are the answer ๐
Ahh, the mallet, the cause of and solution to many bike related problems.
Good luck, just need to pluck up the courage to attempt mine in search of the elusive creak.
