[#9682418]

Thinking of attempting to tubeless convert the stock Schwalbe Nics on my Trance 2. I know 'tubeless ready' tyres would be ideal but any reason they won't work with some sealant and a decent kit?! Rims are Giant tubeless ready.
ta!

Yep, will be fine! For best results make sure you get the sealant to plug up the sidewalls 🙂

From 3.40 it shows you how to plug up the sidewalls

It also has the valves and the sealant that you need which is good

Last question!! Rims are Giant 23mm but the kit above is 21mm or 25mm... best to go 25 right?

Tough choice, with wider tape you will get in in the bead which can make fitting the tyre tricky.

That said, I find giant tubeless rims to be a bit crap so it might actually help with sealing a bit. You won’t know until you try.

That said, I think that performance schwalbe tyres with giant rims is a tricky combo to work with.

Is that 23mm internal or external width?

ETRTO 23 so internal I'm pretty sure!

Hmmm, looks like it's the external width, so the internal will be about 19ish. I would go for 21! 🙂

Ok, this Sheldon Brown article claims that the ETRTO figure is for internal width, so you'd be wanting 25mm..

Yep the diagram ^^ is for tyres, which measure outside width, whereas rims measure internal width... typically confusing for the bike industry!! Thanks all.
