[#6927194]

I have just built a pair of h plus son archetype rims onto a pair of dt swiss hubs and am looking for tyre recommendations.

What tyres do you guys and gals run tubeless?
Do you think it is worthwhile or should I just pop some tubes in and a pair of gp4000's on there?

I'm not going to claim comprehensive knowledge here, but I've been running Schwalbe Ones on Stans rims on and off for the last 8-9 mths, and they've just worked fine. Go on easy and roll really nicely. Running them about 10-15psi less than with a tube, and the grip is noticeably improved on GP4000 IME.

I've been running tubeless and a big fan of it. I'm mainly communting with the bike over a long distance, and want something fast but puncture resistant and tubeless has proved to be a good solution. Heavy touring tyres were uncomfortable and slow.

I'm using a Hutchinson training tyre which is ok but certainly not the last word in grip. It's also a bit of a pain to get on the rim, so I dread if I do actually get a puncture.

I would like to try Schwable Ones if I was going for something a bit more racey..

Any thoughts on tyre widths?

I run either 25mm or 28mm, prefer 28mm if the frame can take it (selling some hutchinson intensives in the classifieds if you want to try some cheap)

I've tried:

Hutch Secteur 28. OK grip, tread pretty robust, scary-looking "delamination" of what I think is a cosmetic strip round near the bead - in 2 out of 2 tyres

Hutch Fusion 25. they're OK too, much the same as above really - though I think it's expected to be a grippier tyre (note it's thinner, maybe that does make a difference). Haven't seen the strip lifting on this one

Bontrager 25. (R3?) newish to me, seems OK, maybe bit grippier than above

Scrabbly ONE 25. Going on when the flint gets pushed off the roads by traffic

I'm not sure that 28s are really any more comfy than 25s - both much nicer than 23s (with tubes) IME. Dunno about grip, though the 28mm secteurs are pretty decent despite supposedly built for strength

Just fitted some 23mm Hutchinson Atom Galactiks to Pacenti SL23 rims. Tight as a drum, not ridden yet. Pretty light (245g per tyre) will have to see how they fare in terms of durability.

One thing's for sure: they're not coming off in a hurry ๐Ÿ™„
