i got myself a pair of these - Gore Knee warmers. I only cycle 4 miles to work and dont want the hassle of putting on full length tights and only need to keep my knees warm.

However for the life of me i cant seem to keep them up. After cycling for 2-3miles they start slipping down the thigh. They are tight and i wouldnt want to go a size smaller as i couldnt get them on.

Any ideas or tricks?

Do you wear lycra shorts over the top? I find they are the only way to keep leg warmers up.

Shave a line around your leg at the height you wear them, gives better adhesion.

In seriousness, do you use a shower gel/soap that has moisturising properties, as these can stop the sticky bit at the top and bottom of knee/leg warmers gripping?

Have you washed them yet, if so, did you use fabric softener? Again, that stops them sticking?

Do you have them high enough to start with? I've seen people with them too low and not with the seam at the back of the knee before.

Buy the right size? Get more manly thighs? Mine have never fallen down (Endura ones) with shorts over the top of them.

lycra shorts over the top works for me.

There is a glue called "stays-up" which I used to use when compression hosiery to people with less than ideally shaped legs.

I think some top totty uses it to hold those silly plunge line dresses oveer their booblies and to stop fall out. Sadly I never got to supply to them.

It works a treat, but may be a step too far. It is water soluble(with soap i think) and is a simple roll on.

Tinternet has it.

The leg shave should work too. Or you could put them on upside down.

Good luck

Dave

tie a bit of string around them at the top and fold them over it to cover it....... or cycle faster and harder than ever before for 1 month, watch those thighs grow like Chris Hoys and bob's your uncle

they may be knee warmers, but the top half of it should be right up around the thigh - almost into the crotch - so that the stretch has effect and holds them in place as it try to compress again and grips the leg.

when in lycra, lycra goes over top; when in baggies, warmer goes over the inner short.

But really, I reckon you need to get them up higher; also wash them reasonably often as I find they revert to original shape (not slightly stretched) when you do this which helps too.
