She doesn't reside in a country beginning with N and ending with A does she? That does sound really iffy.
Can you sub out the floor laying and concentrate on the light building? 😉

Yep how stupid do these folks think we are .
Cheers stu ygm.

Here is a little touch that I may make as an option on the light
as a safety feature you have been out riding and stacked badly you went one way the bike the other all your lights have gone out in the dark forest .
but your Trouty is still glowing nicely so you can find your bike

painted inside the optic bit with glow paint . charges up the paint when your light is on and glows green when it is off

Neat....you're saying you're sure the light would fail in the crash though? 😛
Might be useful to dab a bit on the bike too....actually all the bits that might break. Actually, make that everything!

I like the glow in the dark, will this be a standard feature?

I'm no Nick Craig but I'll test your D2D's if you want.

Neat! Like the glow in the dark idea, although the blue is a better colour. Great if for any reason you have to leave the bike in the dark for any reason and don't want to leave the main light on. Cool.

When you say 'All this green glow paint will probably add a week to the construction time' how many weeks till completion are we looking at at the moment? I really need mine for the end of October if possible and if green glowyness is going to delay it further then I'll not bother.

I don't want to put you under any more pressure btw.

Does that say 'troutelight'?

Is that 135 per LED or overall?

Must be overall, I think an extra 800 lumens would be something to shout about. But you never know.

99.99% sure it will be overall

so does that mean that us guys who have ordered a self build could be getting ours soon? 😉
Do we have to stipulate what lens we want or are you sending
2 of each spot, med, & eliptical.?

Yes.

I was wondering, what are you using for the lense Trout ?.

Not the optics, but the main lense.

Solo.

These lights generate lots of heat right?

How about a little rack to warm a pie for a mid ride snack?

Wow, how the light has evolved! Looking at the Mk1 light alongside the latest incarnation, it's gone from a fairly typical homebrew with a bit of sophistication, to a truly professional, quality light that would happily sit alongside a Hope or Exposure light in a shop display case. Fantastic job, Trout, I am so impressed with how this has developed. Well done.

XT.

I think you're talking waffle !. Look again at the pictures of the inside of this light. Glue, hand filed edges on plastic lenses held in with silicone and wire from the skip doesn't put this light in the same category as product from Hope, for example.

Development, yes, well don't forget this light is more than the product of one person. This thread has two examples of how the OP has borrowed ideas from others and used them to turn quite a tidy profit.

However the marketing strategy is sublime. This thread gets nudged every other day to pop back up onto the front page of the forums, just to keep reeling in the sales, even though all the first batch are allegedly sold out.

A light using new LEDs, which has not yet been tested, and there are some who are parting with proper money for this.

Each to there own, you pays your money....

But "it's gone from a fairly typical homebrew with a bit of sophistication, to a truly professional, quality light that would happily sit alongside a Hope or Exposure light in a shop display case" is a little much. IMO.

Agreed - a new product with little real world testing, selling (sold out) for ~£300 ea 😯

let's see how Troutie's CS is if things go wrong, which having the odd teething trouble is almost to be expected. From what I have seen he seems a decent sort to stand by his product

Keep bumping the thread CC 😉

I do not agree with captain C, I for one have walked in to this with my eyes open.

Its a chance to get hold a great little light with a ruck load of power from a bloke who enjoys what he does.

He does not pretend to be anything other than what he is, a hobbyist that has found others with a like mind.

I've had a troutlight for about a year now - there was an issue but chris sorted it out very quickly and with no fuss. I have no hestitation in going for one of the new ones - he is a good bloke who enjoys what is doing and is providing what I think is a very good product
