Has anyone bought a European long term or annual policy recently (that covers biking and climbing)?

We're going to Spain / Italy / France over the next 2 months (yes, obviously against Government and FO advice....) So understandably premiums have gone up.

I don't need any cover for Covid, either for medical care or cancellations as neither of those things are risks I feel I need to insure against.

All I really need is medical cover for the obvious reasons and repatriation if it really came to that. Personal Possessions would be useful, as I'm sure my home policy will currently be excluding that cover.

Last year we paid £150, this year I'm being quoted £450+

Thanks

Staysure were the first provider I found that would cover travel to Amber countries, I think it's a £5 surplus on a single trip policy.

They cover all forms of non-competitive MTBing, but not for 'personal loss' so yeah, Helicopter off the mountain, long stay in hospital, repatriation, all covered. £10k for the inconvenience of a broken leg, not covered.

Usually I'd go with a specialist provider, but I couldn't find an affordable provider who offered both Amber countries and specific MTB cover.

My travel insurance comes "free" with my Nationwide bank account. I phone up and get a quote for extra cover (off road bikes, kitesurfing) and am usually surprised by how cheap it is.

Staysure is interesting and looks cheap - they cover :

Cycling (only if wearing a helmet, not mountain biking)

Mountain biking* (only if wearing a helmet)

I'm trying to establish what the asterisk means. Companies like Dogtag have specific issues with downhill biking but usually struggle to describe what that is (they should come to this forum.....)

Thanks

Mmmm, the * symbol apparently means that they dont provide cover for personal injury as a result of those activities. I'll call them and see if that can be added on.
