Fnarr fnarr, etc...
So I want to put my seatpost in another frame. I measured it roughly: 31mm. I know there's loads of different seatpost diameters but both my frames seem to be 31mm. The seatpost goes in about 3mm but won't budge any further. Before I use a bit more force I thought I'd just check that there aren't loads of stupid variations in size like 31.4, or 30.967 etc.
Cheers
Documented sizes are almost always a multiple of 0.2 mm and include: 22.0, 22.2, 23.4, 23.8, 24.0, 25.0, 25.4, 25.8, 26.0, 26.2, 26.4, 26.6, 26.8, 27.0, 27.2, 27.4, 27.8, 28.0, 28.6, 29.2, 29.4, 29.6, 29.8, 30.0, 30.2, 30.4, 30.8, 30.9, 31.4, 31.6, 31.8, 32, 34.9.
That's ridiculous.
But thanks ๐
What bikes are they?
Often lots of corrosion in seat tubes. Look up the diameter for your frame online. If it won't go in then you need to clean out the seat tube. Your LBS may have a tool for the correct size or you can use a round file with extreme care. I found a super stiff round wire brush at B&Q for plumbers to clean out pipes; i fixed a loner handle to it and it's perfect.
Not sure of years but:
Spesh Rockhopper Pro
Carerra Vulcan
I want to get rid of one of the frames but can't decide, hence the swapping seatposts around. They both seem so-so weight wise, both look nice. Any ideas? I'm not that clued up with brands and were both bought 2nd hand for about the same money. Thought I'd just ride both with all the same components on for a bit, see which one I prefer.
A quick Google suggest Specialised often use 30.9 and Carrera use 31.6.
I was going to say, 30.9 popular with spesh.
That makes sense. It won't go in the Spesh.
Thanks chaps.
