Any one else had a problem with the height of the bar on this type of rack? We tried fitting both our Blur LTs on it yesterday and I can't seem to get both of the locking bars to pass over the top tube of the front bike(nearest the boot of the car).
The dip in the top tube is just low enough to get the clamp on the 1st bike but I can't get it onto the rearmost bike.

The loop that stands up from the rack seems to need to be 3 or 4 inches higher.

I can't believe that no-one else has this problem?

Put the green bike to the inside, move the short arm clamp to the vertical part of the loop, clamp the seat tube of the green bike with the short clamp. Put the long clamp through the middle of the frame of the green bike, clamp the top tube of the white bike moving the ling clamp along the horizontal part of the loop until it's in a position the fits.

Try the clamps in different positions on the rack hoop, and clamp the bike frame differently - on the seat tube or down tube, doesn't have to be on the top tube.

Also, I find it easier to put the wheel straps on first but leave them loose so you can move the bikes to get the clamps on, then tighten the straps.

Not sure if I have a photo of my Thule rack loaded, I'll have a look.

Can't find a useful picture.

As liftman says, though, biggest bike first...

Take the rack to your LBS & ask for 2 bikes to fit it.

Thanks. The green bike is actually a medium and the white one a large. The white one has larger gaps through the frame but has the owner top tube due to greater swoop. I guess I need to have another play with them. The one thing I don't want to have to do is keep taking the clamps off the tube and refitting them.

Not taking the clamps off may be a bit optimistic.

I find it easiest to get the bike on the carrier with the wheel straps loose, then position the clamp to suit the frame. Second bike on, then feed the next clamp through the frame of the first bike in a position that suits the second.

The clamps do go on and off pretty easily...

Tried lots of different ways but couldn't get the clamps to fit.

I've ended up making up a couple of extensions to the hoop to raise the top of it by 10cm.

That way the clamp arms fit over the top tube and it works. They are in wood at the moment but now that I know it will work I'll get some sorted in steel tube.
