[#6772488]

Having just got a Thomson dropper second hand (with apparently no use) I took it out for the first proper trail ride the other day in some wet sandy conditions (Swinkey Forest) and for the last 30 mins for a 2h ride the post was sticking. I've since sprayed the bike down (non pressure washer) and it's still not returning when unweighted. I've not tried to solve the prolem as such yet, I first wanted to take advice from other owners first.

Anyone got any advice?

Seat clamp too tight?

Mine is really fussy about seat clamp tightness and cable tension/routing to enable it to return to full extension.

Check the cable tension and cable routing. I had an intermittent problem due to the cable sometimes temporarily snagging on the suspension rocker, bit of subtle re-routing sorted the problem.

Thanks, I'll take a look, I did adjust the height on the ride, but suspect it was after the sticking started happening.

I have a regular and stealth Thomson. Spray some Muc-off Bike spray on it and push the post up and down a few times while keeping the lever in. Always clean and the spray after every use. Mine has been going strong for a year now.

Clean with Silicon spray, nothing else.
