This forum will be the ruin of me. I came on this forum not very long ago and have been demanding advice every few days - surprised I haven't been asked to leave yet; you're all very nice.
First, I asked how can I keep my cheap bike running (bought some wheels and loads of tools), then, looking for some mega cheap second hand forks. Next, advice on buying secondhand On-One, decided on Scandal. Now decided to buy new Scandal frame and new RS Recon Gold Solo Air forks - going to cost £175 each.
Then I saw the Scandal bike in the For Sale forum for £600 - I thought, "seems stupid to spend £350 on frame and forks when I could have all that (although possibly those Revelations on that Scandal are a bit too long travel for the frame - thought Revs were all more than 100mm).
Anyway, I'm here for some more advice - whats the cheapest XC MTB I can buy that has forks equivalent (or better) than the 100mm Recon Gold (I decided I must have Motion Control) ?? Could be a new bike or hardly used like the Scandal in the For Sale this morning - don't really want something that has been well ridden.

Very slippery 😀 I'm not quite making stealth purchases behind the wifes back but we are having negotiations. In fact, she was the one who said, wouldn't it be better to just buy a new bike ! I think she was being sarcastic but its something to go on.
Anyway, back to the bike - I've checked around on a few web sites and I'm not much taken by the likes of what I've seen so far, so if anyone comes across any quality bikes at a bargain price, give me a heads-up.
