I’ve got one of those uswe packs. Clipping at the front pulls the two shoulder straps together so they aren’t pulling back on the shoulders.

you know the difference between a ‘fashion’ backpack and a ‘sport/outdoor’ one with the sternum strap? It’s like that amount of improvement again over the ‘sport’ one.

Another person who will always try and avoid wearing any sort of back pack when riding. However, needs must sometimes for extra hydration but some key issues I've found for my use cases:

If i have to carry extra fluid, I'd prefer it on the front (chest pockets) rather than increasing the sweatiness of your back.

Albion one - it's pretty snug on a 42/44" chest, and there isn't much in the way of straps to hold hoses so they're easier to get at when riding and you're wanting some water. Works for the bottles themselves if you're happy to pull them out to drink, but then you've got to squeeze a floppy bottle back in to the pocket.

Innov-8/Salomon running ones - fit better and have hose straps, but if on a gravel/road bike they're much more prone to having the flexible bottle slip out due to the forward leaning position. Not a problem when upright and running as they were intended for.

I very much like to ride packless since I found out modern bottle cages don't eject like they used to in the 90s but sometimes I need more water and 'stuff' so I've ordered a ladies (I'm not a lady but it's cheap and I have sexy curves) Camelbac vest from Zyro's eBay shop to try out.  I like the idea of chest pockets for instant access to some of the stuff without removing the pack
