I have an idea
Its a small thought that keeps on circulating in my mind.
A long distance loop , mostly off road incorperating the existing bridleways and byways linked together with as little road as possible.
I never knew Mike, never met him or watched the films, just kept an eye on his progress during events.
I feel as if we owe ourselves something , to Mike and his family to show our respect and appreciation to the outstanding efforts he went through to complete those monster distances.
Is there any way the STW massive could plot a trail, using maybe the Ridgeway , NDW , SDW, WHW etc to form a route that anyone could ride over a week or a month that covers alot of the UK?
Its easy for me, living in Hampshire , as If I were to choose my county the SDW covers a great percentage of it. If a few people could take on a county each , someone to help peice togther the info maybe, over time, a full route plan, GPX , PDF route guide and possibly signage.
If you think this is daft, all too much, its too far, too difficult , will take too much time... thats fine.
It would be a shame sit back and do nothing although my niggly idea really needs support from government , and corperate / commercial sponsorship .
Any constructive ideas please feel free to add , pointless sarcasm and negativety can be posted on the chat forum , thanks.
As far as I am aware there is a super mad route on the go will try and find it!
Are you thinking of the U.K. watershed?
We knocked it about last year as a gpx. I've got it somewhere....
Would it have to be a loop?
