@andykirk

Why do Kona Units always look so cool…

It's basically the owners. 😉

I think the skinny tubes and blue work really well, it's not why I got the bike but it didn't hurt the decision, it's sort of evocative of the Gulf Racing colours, that's why I went for Orange Superstar pedals on mine... but the black and gold on the 2018 ones is JPS/Lotus livery, which also makes me very happy indeed.

With the brooks seat, and the skinwalls, I do feel like I need to grow a beard, live on a plant based diet, and start drinking latte's rather than pints and eating chips and pies.

I quite like that its both high and low tech. It's light, without being twangy. It's 'kin rapid, and great when I need to be reminded what it's like to make good line choices.

Comfortable, it aint. But that is solved by some 4.8 minions on 80mm rims, if thats what I fancy...

Call me old fashioned but I’m not a fan of the no stem, looong low and slack look on a hardtail. It just looks wrong.

Though my mum did say to me that beauty is in the eye of the beholder 😉

What is Scienceofficers black mean machine?

Like the look of the Kingdom Vendatta too but wonder if it would be too much bike for less difficult riding.

Genesis Longitude, the Mk1.. Sooo glad I got it before they changed them to 650b

Dunno how I managed to muck up the links, it used to be so easy before the forum "improvements" 😀

Tomtomthepipersson, change the std wheels with the P7. I just built a pro2 Evo on xm481, competition spokes and it's 570g lighter! That's just the rear! Will do the front asap.

Hmm. I thought that I'd posted that up. This site on mobile is a bit of a fight at times.

It's a V2 Last bikes Fastforward.

Some lovely machines being posted, loving Bigdummy's Chromag - surely you must have been tempted to do the stem/bars too, to go full Klein?

chubby

My favouritest bike, Surly ICT usually ridden with 29+ as per photo (though sometimes DHF/DHR). So versatile, a great bike.

My On-One Scandal on its umpteenth incarnation. (No bar tape because still refining position).

Running it singlespeed and amazed at what it goes up on a 42/19 - must be the skinny 2" tyres.

I was so pleased to see On-One had made a set of bars specially for me, that I bought 2 sets. 🙂

Genesis Tarn, bought on a whim to try B+, absolutely love it, completely sold on the big wheel thing ended up buying a Hightower which I’ve since sold on again as it was just too much bike for the riding I get to do, this is now my only MTB and does for everything from local pootling to Lakeland epics.

Man that 29+ ICT looks tempting. I’ve still got a frame and (rigid) forks sitting in the shed. Must resist.

My sort of gravel / hybrid.

Bang on that is, except for the flats. And the fact it's small 😉

Superfli - yeah I noticed how heavy the stock wheels are - especially the rear - when I tubelessified it. It’s a right lump.

the00 - Your Solaris max with a rigid fork pictured on page 1. I assume the rigid fork lowers the front end a bit? I read Cotic recommend 120mm suspension minimum. Reason for asking is that I have a Solaris Max that I am thinking about putting a 100mm suspension fork on. Is the reduced BB height ok? Any other comments on the ride?

akkwlsk

Assume that's a Puffin? Looks good as 29+. Are the Aion's 29+ or just have a particularly girthy arch?

Yes, Puffin mk1. This is the new Aion35 29 boost version. It's not speced as 29+, but takes 29x3.0 Minion on 45mm id rim with ~1cm of clearance:
minion in aion
