10 miles, 1 hr 10 mins......blown off twice, soaked to the undies, 1 puncture.
by far the worst for riding today, 1 minute no wind, next like hitting a brick wall.

don't you love winter miles............ 😆

Not quite so bad here in the East Midlands, not raining yet, but the wind was on the cusp of "too risky to ride in traffic".

Ride home will be harder.

Ton - you work in Leeds, same as me yes? I was on the M62 this morning and the traffic was horrific. I was thinking that the wind and rain which were pretty bad made me happy I wasn't on the bike - so kudos to you doing it!!

I sacked it off and went to the pool instead. 1500m swimming and I was probably no wetter than you by the sounds of it.

Nah, I can't hack it in this weather.
I'm starting the Insanity 30 minute workouts tomorrow.

Fast repair/tube swap too. In this weather.
I too took the car, a combination of Friday's way home being too soon to have been forgotten and poorly partner.
Friday evening's ride was half done on the pavement as a straight line on the road was not possible.

I ride near enough a straight line for most of the commute, it was largely a cross wind, but was doing enough to slow me down too. Managed to stay upright though, hands seemed to hurt from fighting the bars though!

Mine was ace! Huge tailwind, beat the rain... top stuff.

Later doesn't look so good though; the met office says the wind will drop, but so will lots of water from the sky...

Just got my old hack roadie sorted with guards and rack, but I don't fancy riding in later, looking at the weather. Think I will wimp out and take the car instead

i had nearly the same coming in this morning Ton...rain eventually stopped but the wind didnt. at one point i was struggling to get to 10mph down down a hill where normally i could easily hit 30mph...did 7 miles riding into the wind.

knowing my luck the wind will be blowing in the opposite direction on the ride home... 🙁

No chance when it's this windy, I have a 15 mile westward commute home.

Anything approaching 15 mph is a chore.
15 and above has me muttering obscenities under my breath for the entire ride.
20 and above an I've been known to get off the bike and shake my fist at the sky.

I drove to work, but finished up early for a cycle round Arthur's Seat.
Fitness is shit just now, and the headwind when climbing sucked ass.

Gonna do 30 min Insanity workouts until the weather gets better

I was the only person I saw cycling into leeds from my direction. Managed to stay on the bike but there were a few involuntary swerves.

Having only had 4.5 hours sleep after getting home past 2am it certainly woke me up!

Threw it down in Nottingham most of the day, dry and clear in time for the ride home. Shame it's my only chance to commute this week....

I've never done it on the bike but when my tomato plants all got flattened in a storm, I was seen swearing at the sky like King Lear, wearing my undies in the dark and rain of a wild, Welsh stormy midnight...

I was going to commute today, from Bradford to Leeds, however I chickened out. That and I'm 4 weeks post cracking my triquetrum and still in pain. Hopefully later the in the week I'll be back on the focus.

Pudsey to Leeds city centre for me, plenty windy at the minute. Cycling in this beats sitting in the traffic thanks to the Bridgewater Place road being closed.

It was a bit damp last night but the wind had dropped right off. I took full advantage and cranked out a 50 mile road ride.

Yesterday was pretty perfect for me... a massive tailwind in, it started raining shortly after arriving but stopped just before I went home again, by which time the wind had dropped. If only the weather could be so cooperative all the time... 🙂
