God it was hot.

Woods section - dry for the first time in history? Although I think I still saw a puddle or two.

A great event as always, well signposted, well run. Thanks to everyone who was involved. And top notch burger at the end (which was all I really came for).

Anyone else?

Yep, it was very hot. Had planned to do the 80k but the heat got the better of me so returned after 50k.
It was a bit weird for me though as I paid to ride my local route. 😯

You were on the STW ride on the 8th in Winchester weren't you? Didn't recognize you if I did see you.

Was thinking about doing the 80km as well, but the camelbak was near empty and so were my energy levels..

Yes I was on the Winchester ride, I was on the Cube.
I thought I was chasing/ following you through Collingbourne Woods. Kind of looked liked you. Same whippet build but the rider I was following was on a full suss so I guess it wasn't you.

Yeah I was on my chameleon as always. Think I set a pretty good time as well, be interesting to see the results when they come out.

Yeah just did the short ride with my mate. It was nice and warm. My burger was a bit burned, but I was too hungry to care.

It was good. It certainly made up for the last 2 years. The changes to last years route were good especially the extra hill before the woods. I like the heat but due to a lack of riding in the last few months ment I stopped at 50k. Hi to anyone I saw (I was on a blue GT fs).

I did the 50k today - frankly it was just a bit too hot. Collingbourne woods were good, seemed to me that the course was set up to include just a bit more of the woods than in previous years. If I had known that the temperature was to be as high as it was I would have just done the 30k.

Oh ment to say I prefered the way out of the woods as it ment only one climb before the run in.

Likewise Mulletus.. exactly how local are you to the route? My house is about 30 m from the 32Km/80Km split off 🙂

Couple of years ago I punctured running down the by way slightly further up the hill - my pump packed up and I was about to shoulder it and run home when a nice young lady stopped and lent me her pump.

I'm from Andover so very local. Collingbourne Woods are part of my midweek and weekend rides.
About 75% of the route is part of one of my loops. Was hoping that by doing the TVT it would introduce me to some new stuff but sadly not. 😥

Chances are you know as much as me, once I can get some time on the bike we can swap notes - brassneck junior no. 3 is has recently appeared, and is somewhat high maintenance so evenings/weekends are occupied for the forseeable.

There is certainly a whole load more off toward the Chute side, near the spooky yew tree, and the homeward leg has a fair few bits that criss cross it. There used to be a peach of a run down alongside the fire road but the forestry commission flattened it on the last logging 🙁
My feeble occasional efforts with a gerber haven't made it rideable again yet, and I expect it would require some spade work, and still end up not being as good. Hopefully the moto cross riders will carve it out again.

Planning on doing the short course race there June 6th anyone?

I did a 02:38:17 on the 50km. Better then what I did last year, but still not the fastest guy of the day. Beaten by 4 other people. Knew I should have put on some racier tyres.. 😀
