[#4273517]

Just back from Morzine and i have it on my head that i want a Mini DH bike, i have a Five With a CCDB that was awesome but there was lots that made me think a bigger bike would be sweet, im planning on doing some uplift days and maybe a bit of light downhilling if i have time.
I have some cash burning a hole in my pocket and ive been offered a good deal on a new bobby basic 2012 bike, my finger is teetering over the button but im undecided, please advise.

Don't buy it. Alternatively, buy it for me.

Buy something that's better value for money.

Go for it, there solid and dependable kind of jack of all trades master of none. I've got a patriot 7 + from 2003 and she's about to do her 5th pilgrimage to the alps and she's never let me down still Suprisingly capable considering her age, far from the stock set up of 2003 though

Like what? looked at the Canyons and YT's but they lack that timeless classic vibe.

Get a five with a CCDB on it instead

My Five is cool, i love it, hence the natural pull towards the Patriot.

did a demo day on a patriot in the lake and it was fantastic. I'm nit the best climber and I found not that much difference between my current bike and the patriot.

Get it bought

A 2007 patriot with the adjustable shock mount gives you 7" travel and a Maxle back end.if you buy the small shock shuttle it will also run as a 5" bike.so you get the best of both worlds.and they're cheap!!Hurrah!

Don't buy one. They ride nice, handle big stuff well, are fairly light and strong, track the ground well and can handle DH really well with good geometry. They are low maintenance and perfect for a lot of the DH trails in the UK while still being able to handle trips to Spain and the Alps.

Wy would you want something like that? It may be cheaper to buy from YT or Canyon, but there seem to be quite a few people on here complaining about waiting times and customer service, warranty, etc. Where as Orange have great customer service and are always happy to give advice (in my experience).

Why would you want any of that?

Sell me your CCDB when you buy a patriot. You can have my fox rp as part of the swap. Patriot ftw

A new one or an old one? The new ones are an awkward compromise IMO, I liked it well enough but it didn't pedal well enough to justify being less good on the descents. Then again I've never bought the "great for UK downhill" thing, maybe it makes more sense to other people.

I had a patriot. it made all my local woods riding seem boring and easy.

I sold it and bought a long travel, singlespeed steel hardtail. Which makes more sense!

Look at the mid week movies. There's a little film with patriots in whistler. I bet that will put you off.

An orange five would be perfect for some uplift days and some light downhilling. Patriots look good though, I used to have one years ago, quite alot of my friends have used them aswell, and they all seemed to get along with them fine.
