Just cleaned the best part of the Peak District off & out of my bike after last weekends jaunt and thought to myself I'll check the chain for wear. The bike has been 1x10 since the day I got it with an On-One ringmaster ring, SLX 11-36 cassette and a Deore chain, it's done nearly 1000km in all conditions and to my surprise the chain is less than 25% worn. Must be the lack of crossing and silly gear combos you can select when you've got 2 up front. It's not exactly been cleaned religiously either

How do you quantify that? Is 'worn' a specific point?

You get less crossing of the chain with 2x 9 or 10 if you use the gears correctly.

Putting the chain checker on it and it not going into the slot past the 25% mark.
