Morning folks,

I don’t like using a backback of any sort and instead use water bottles for my thirsty needs.

Unfortunately my water bottle is regularly bouncing out of the cage when I’m riding down rough descents and I’m wondering if there’s any kind of cage out that that can be secured super tight (with a strap or something) prior to descending? And then loosen up again at the bottom?

My Enve one is crazy tight. It will never come out of that.

I've a Bontrager Side Entry aluminium cage on my Remedy... never lost a bottle in years of use; just back from Samoens and used a bottle on the the runs there and still no bottle loses

King Ti cage, not cheap but it is super nice.

Did 50km pinballing around the peaks yesterday on my oiz and the bottle didn't move an inch.

Specialized Zee side cage. Never lost a bottle. Has the advantage of fitting a SWAT multi tool to the bottom

The issue is often as much down to the bottle as it is the cage, and Elite cage will often retain an Elite bottle better than other designs, ditto Tacx, spesh etc.

I just use an Elite cage on both the hard tail and full suspension. Have not lost a bottle from either.

eBay titanium cage for £11. It’s 20grams and has never dropped any of the bottles I use. Inc the750ml insulated camel back that ever other one does.

Elite Cannibals or Specialized Zee cages. Faultless.

As above, Lezyne Flow - but not the side loading version.

A thick elastic looped over the cage and top of the bottle might help.

Cheapest plastic ones they sell in Decathlon here.

Never lost a bottle. Hardtail and full suss, all sorts of rocky, steep, and rough stuff.

Cheers guys. Lots of recommendations there for me!

I must admit this is only an issue when I’m using my massive 950ml bottle on a hardtail riding around the Peak District.  It’s an elite bottle in an elite cage.

I borrwoed a Velcro strap off a mate today and it worked a treat. Easy to tighten up on the move and slacken off again after the descents.

+1 lezyne flow. There's no way a bottle is coming out of that by itself

High5 bottles in Blackburn mountain cages.

Run one under the down tube and often smash it on rocks and logs. Written off a few cages, but never lost the bottle.

Wish someone would relaunch the Ringlé bottle cage. Looked cool and never let go of my nightsun battery.

Still using my 3DV Ringle, works a treat. ALthough a mate once did ask if I had made it myself (!)
