I've been running Maxxis Shorty front and DHRII rear over the winter. Riding is mainly local woodland trails. The woods are clay based and so a complete bog in winter but can bake hard like a cricket wicket in summer. Can still get greasy on top though after rain.
I was looking at changing the current winter set up now the trails have largely dried out. I've hunted round the garage and found a pair of Bonty XR4 TLR 2.2s and a pair of Specialized The Captains 2bliss 2.0s. I've used the Bontys before but the Captains came on a second hand bike I bought for the wife and I've never used so no ideas what they're like. They seem light and fairly good tread pattern for summer if a bit narrower than I'd usually go for.
So I've thought about the following options and wondering if anyone has thoughts on which to try first
XR4 Front : Captain Rear
DHRII Front : Captain Rear
Captains Front & Rear
I'll probably end up trying these all out but I'm bored in work and musing the options so thought I'd gauge opinion.
