I had another excellent weekender. Huge disappointment for me in the DH but still a good fun time regardless.

Thanks to all the team involved in the running, marshalling, organising and helping.

Had a fantastic time, it was my first ever event and enjoyed the nerves and tension waiting for the beeps in the DH start and the illation at the end that I beat my target of 3mins !

Great to chill with like minded people in the campsite in the evening,

thanks ta all who marshalled, and especially to all those who gave me encoragement round the third lap of the XC race !

that face plant into the rock step cerainly deserved the frame ๐Ÿ˜‰

saturday was good......some fast times, there were lots of puntures too !
and great to have some extra entertainment : the guy with the drum shouting obsenaties as the bikes flew past..! i was stood a few yards away from 'Rowan Sorrel' too as he sat and watched the rest of the DH with his mates...so that was a bonus ...lol

Awesome weekend! Was initially a bit knocked for six by the course as so much harder than last year, but happy with what I rode/didn't ride having only been riding in 'anger' for 4 months.

The heckling was brilliant, trying to think up 'anti-heckles' before the DH run was pretty fun too.

Staying up very late and getting very drunk then riding an XC race seemed to work at the time but I feel properly wiped out now.

Thanks to the organisers, marshals and all the people I met and chatted to everyone was really friendly and the atmosphere was just great.

Time to make a list of skills I need to gain before next year!

Everyone here at Singletrack (and I'm Sure tony Lund at Lancashire County Council) would like to say a big thanks to all of you for turning out and racing and making the event the thing that it is ;]

I'm quite windburned today ;]

Cheers

Matt

Funniest Heckle I heard was during the DH Practice, guy in front of me on a singular rigid 29er (think thast you citizen ?), started. Stopped straight away, shouldered the bike and ran down the first part of the track... Commentator "I thought 29ers were supposed to roll better" ๐Ÿ˜‰
Hats off to you havin a go though !

I'm dehydrated from the wind ๐Ÿ˜† but what a great event.

Thanks to all who helped and to the competitors that were, as ever, so friendly. What other sport cheers on their rivals?

It really was a great event.
DH course was more challenging than last year, marked wide with lots of line choice it was hard to ride fast and smooth.
XC was good and it didn't send you right to the bottom of the hill every lap, which was nice.

Great to catch up with people and make some new friends.

Above all a good atmosphere and lots of fun, big thanks to everyone that made it happen.

Excellent event, thanks to everyone who made it happen. Brilliant atmosphere which says a lot about the people there. Thanks to Glen (the guy in the next tent) for lending me some gloves after neglecting to pack my own.

The couple in the scooby snack wagon were a good laugh and good on them for not charging fortune to the captive customers. Would have been good to have a few healthier options though.

There were some photographers there I'll try and get some photo's from them tomorrow.

Starting to think of new additions for next year, optional night time section across the moors to Cragg Quarry and back for some extra time in the xc any one?

Arm the local kids with water soaked sponges for the track stand section?

Just been doing the final clear up of the site today it was odd being in the quarry on my own! I miss you all already!

Thanks for coming!

A question for those that raced, in the XC race was it quicker to ride the red or black from the top of the hill?

I rode the black on each lap as I thought it was the fastest way down, but after the race someone told me they were getting held up by slower riders who then took the red, so they took the black and lost about four places!

I know it's not important now but it's been bugging me ๐Ÿ˜•

Took some pics over the w/e - not professional and some are worse than others - all totally random but have the following people in shot doing something or other. Will try to forward emails if you ask nicely.
I'm going to regret this!

A question for those that raced, in the XC race was it quicker to ride the red or black from the top of the hill?

When Ed took us on a tour of the XC he rode red while Nial rode black..the black was far quicker...however, on race day, they added a bit of riding over the log at the end of the black which slowed it down a whole lot. Most I talked to said the red WAS quicker in the end.

The red was quicker in the end because of the longer exit route from the black. The black is a quicker line to ride.

That's racing ๐Ÿ™‚

quicker to ride the red or black from the top of the hill?

Decided I'd take the red after climbing past the (pushing) 29r up to the choice-zone, taking the black, then finding 29r back in front... Took a few minutes to realise he hadn't, in fact, bent all the rules & missed out a large section of the course!

First time i have ever marshalled ( i was at point 3, where you had the 2 options to go left after the fire road...)and i loved it! will defo do it again, but bot at next years, i have missed the last 2 so i am DEFO racing next year! best bit for me, was on the last lap, a guy was struggling on the climb today, looked shattered, i shouted some encouragement, " come on, last lap, push on, your doing well....." he said " im, im.... starts with F and ends in D" he said, not wanting to swear.... when i said "fingered?" he fell off laughing..........

Talking about tough ladies - I think my GF should have a post event spot prize for her resolve and determination at the weekender. She crashed 3 times in her timed DH run and still managed to finish with a very respectable time of 3.22. When she got to the finish line she looked like she was in a lot of pain with badly cut and bruised legs. Her coccyx was also very painful. Despite this and a very bad night's sleep because of it, she still rode the XC the next day completing 3 laps and taking 8th in the senior women's race. After a couple of days without being able to sit properly, she went to A&E yesterday to find out she has a fractured Coccyx and won't be able to sit properly, let alone ride, for the next few weeks. Well done Kate.
