I'm trying to fix up the OH's bike, not ridden in about 7 years, and it has me stumped. It's a Pashley something or other (Britannia? Princess?), and I'm having difficulties with the Sturmey Archer rear hub.

The wheel itself is out of true but the spoke nipples are massive and don't fit any spoke wrenches I have - anyone know what spoke/ nipple combo Pashley use on these?

And the gears are a bit iffy. The hub's an X-RD5(W), which is a SA 5-speed hub with hub brake. Is there a service/ user manual anyone can point me to? Or is it just better to take it to an LBS/ nearest bin??ย

I'm eventually hoping to sell it, but the OH reckons she'll ride all 18kg of it to work every day...ย

Instructions for hubs are on the SJS cycles website:

Also will this spoke key do what you need?

I have chewed to many nips with those things*

But it is a pretty convenient way to work out which spokey to buy.

*Mainly because there are 8 opportunities to get the wrong one and if you aren't paying attention, you hand a round nipple.

Yes but they will also fit a removable valve core to re- fit it on the trail when you haven't got pliers.

Thanks for the pointers, appreciate it. For starters I've gone with a similar spoke key jobby; figure it must be 13G or 12G spokes, so hopefully can at least get the wheel true.ย

And I've downloaded the 'manual' (all 2 A4 pages of it) from the SA website; just need to get my hands dirty I reckon and see what's what. First challenge is how to disconnect the effing wheel to get it off the bike - there's at least 2 cables going into it with slightly rusty connections.ย
