[Closed] Stripped thread in a carbon crank

Mate of mine has got FSA carbon cranks on his TT bike - he had a pedal partially unwind mid-ride, and before he knew what was going on had mangled the tread in the crank arm.

Any experiences to share? How to fix? Can you get the thread insert re-cut, or replaced?

Thanks.

Helicoil or more accurately thread inserts as they're not strictly speaking helicoils are easily available from Ceeway framebuilding supplies, the reamers/taps (combined) are the expensive bit. I have a set, they're very useful for creating tandem chainsets from standard as well as thread repairs.

You might also get away with retapping it, usually only the last few threads are destroyed as the pedal falls off, and can be cleaned up. Put the tap through from the inside/good threads (obviously you need a pedal thread tap).
