I'm getting some sticky shifting on my rear mech. Its 9speed, with XT mech and LX shifters.

When going up through the cogs, half the time the thumb pressure required is negligible but no shift happens. Then the next time you thumb it, it need loads of pressure and feels like your having to fight against something, like the sort of preesure you would need to move to the outter chainring.

Whats my best course of action? Wash? lube? overhaul? chuck it in the river?

Try a wash and a lube of all the cabal outer.
If that doesn’t help try and readjust the gear caballing and rear mech.

sounds like your gear cable have got dirt in them. Try to clean the outer and maybe get a spray of teflon downthere.
